The first time I had laid eyes on Corinne, was when she came to watch our indoor soccer team play at Off the Wall. Corinne wasn’t there to watch me play; she was there to support her sister. I would see her walk in with her little brother, and then leave before the game was over, which left me with a need to want to meet her. For some reason she was different. As time passed I would see her, but never had formally introduced myself to her. The time never felt natural, nor right. It wasn’t until February 2014; I was attending my cousin’s wedding, speaking to my brother’s fiancée, and for some reason Corinne was the headliner of our conversation. I started to speak about this “girl” I was interested in. I shared a photo of Corinne, and Laura immediately said “that’s a good girlfriend of mine, and I have known her since high school”. As she said that I felt my heart drop and I quickly asked, “do you have a way to contact her?” Laura looked at me and had said “I am not sure if I can do that.” Later that night I had Corinne’s phone number, and I could not wait to text her.
When Esteban text me that night I had shared with him that I was ill with a terrible flu. Esteban did not hesitate to offer, and bring me a care package the next day. I thought to myself, this is the first time I am meeting this man, and he’s already taking care of me. I heard a knock at the door, and my heart was racing. As soon as I opened the door, I knew Esteban was “the one.” The man I had searched for all my life, my prayers came true that night.
